Hands That Sculpt Healing

Hi, it’s a pleasure to meet you.

Happily remarried, mother of three, and a proud grandmother.
Caring for people – in many forms and through various methods – has been part of my journey since before my army service and continues to this day.
As part of an academic military track, I studied Physical Education at the Wingate Institute and later served in the Navy as a combat fitness instructor.
After completing my military service, I naturally transitioned into teaching physical education at a high school, where I taught and mentored students for ten years.
A chance encounter with someone working in injury rehabilitation ignited a spark within me, leading me to explore the fields of rehabilitative sports and reflexology.
Immediately after completing my studies, I began working at Beit Halochem in Haifa, helping rehabilitate injured veterans through sports therapy.
Working closely with many wounded individuals, I realized how profoundly healing touch can be – not just for the body, but for the soul as well.
While working at Beit Halochem, I also trained in a range of therapeutic massage techniques based on Chinese medicine, including Shiatsu, Tuina, and others.
For seven years, I treated IDF veterans with heartfelt care and unwavering sensitivity.
That period deepened my calling to help others – to reach them, to care for them, and to truly make a difference.
The touch of my hands became a vital part of the therapeutic and healing journey.
Shortly after, I began training therapists at the College of Management, deepening my expertise in circular breathing and intuitive painting – all while going through a difficult separation from the father of my daughters.
It was during that time that I began painting with fierce urgency – as if my soul demanded it. Spirituality was becoming a powerful force in my life, and I felt an overwhelming need to create, to channel something through my hands.
My private clinic began to grow, and more and more women came seeking care – not just for their bodies, but for their hearts and minds as well
Before long, I found myself guiding women’s circles.
The women reflected back the very questions stirring within me – Who am I as a woman? As a mother? Through these shared explorations, the woman within me began to find her voice.
My longing for recognition and validation was powerfully affirmed by the women who came to me for support.
Gradually, I let go of the clinic and came to understand that it was time to turn my care inward – to begin healing myself.
Sculpture was drawn into the void that had formed.
There, I gave form to my emotions and to my philosophy of life.
I connected with women who had experienced rape, incest, and abuse, and in the course of supporting them, I began sculpting female figures – rounded forms that expressed wholeness, compassion, strength, and hope.
It quickly became clear to me that art can be a vehicle for social change, and I went on to complete a master’s degree in the field.
“Ronit’s sculptures serve as a mirror for what a woman experiences
both within herself and in her surroundings. They express a longing for goodness, for optimism, as if gently whispering to women: Be whole with yourselves. Many women who encounter her work feel embraced by the sculptures – a sense of being safely held, like in a warm and protective womb.

Ronit’s work centers primarily on the female form, which appears throughout most of her creations. Her art is shaped by an inner pull, personal themes, and a constant search for form. (From the curators’ notes in my exhibitions).”

I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the Wingate Institute and a Master’s degree in Society and the Arts from the Academic College of Society and the Arts in Netanya.
I studied, sculpted, and refined my craft under the guidance of artists Solomon Leviev (Karmiel), Zvika Altman (Givat Haviva and Katzir), Rachel Tzamir (Haifa), Shlomit Averbuch (Tel Aviv), Anat Lotan (Tel Aviv), and Shay Avidan (Tel Aviv).
I also trained in a marble sculpture workshop in Sintra, Portugal, led by Moises Preto Paulo.

“A long process of observing the textures and veins of the stone leads her to discover the core form that emerges from within the material. Each time, that core takes on a different feminine shape – the result of a dialogue between matter and meaning, between the softness of the female curves and the strength of the soul and spirit.
In this way, the hard stone embodies spiritual power and inner resilience, while the smooth, rounded forms express the softness of the female body.
With simple, flowing lines and without unnecessary anatomical detail, Ronit distills this ongoing dialogue into abstract silhouettes that hold great power.”
(Shulamit Nuss, Curator and Director of the Discount Bank Art Collection, at the opening of Ronit’s solo exhibition on behalf of Discount Bank).

My works are held in numerous collections in Israel and abroad, and it always brings me joy to discover where they’ve found a home 🙂
