The Hebrew word for rooster originates from Sumerian and means “king’s bird.” Across cultures, the rooster is linked to death and rebirth, to driving away darkness with courage and ushering in the dawn. In many traditions, it stands as a symbol of bravery and valor; in Judaism, it represents masculine energy and is even called gever (“man”).
